SPN thoughts and theories: AHBL, Demons and Colt
I should be studying for Greek Myth intensely right now, or else doing some calculus but I thought I get this out there before I forget. Let me just say that I am stoked there will be a season three to look forward to this fall, and I cannot wait to see what Kripke, the boys and the crew have for us! So...onto "All Hell Breaks Loose Pts. 1 and 2" and any other little tid bits that have been bothering me.

So I rewatched AHBL at 2:30am this morning and really, there seemed to be a lot that I missed the first time or I was too busy feeling bad for Dean to notice. Seriously though, the boy's been through Hell, like almsot literally. I would like to say Dean is not stupid. I don't care if people think he was stupid for selling his soul just to bring Sammy back, but what if he didn't? You know Dean, Bobby, and Ellen would have been royally screwed by then and all the demons from Hell would have been released. Also, if Sam was still dead, how in the world could they kill Jake if they can be manipulated by Jake's mind manipulation? Only Sam is imune to that, so that's why he was the only one to kill Jake. Even though Hell was still opening up but he stopped Jake doing anything else. Still, Sammy said probably 100 to 200 demons have probably escaped to build the army.

Which is interesting, just because the abandoned chuch frontiers happen to form a perfect pentagram with the railroad tracks connecting to each other. So, if those are made out of iron and steal, and we know demons can't get in, that would mean that demons can get out? If the center of the pentagram is Hell, what does that mean?

Pentagram is the shape of a five-pointed star drawn with five straight strokes and in Greek, pentagrammon, pentagrammos, or pentegrammos mean "five-lined" or "five lines." We know astronomers, Pythagoreans, Christianity and Judaism relate to the pentagram. But so does Satanism. Of course, I know Wikipedia isn't exactly known for complete accuracy but this is what is says about Satanism with the pentagram:

Satanists use a pentagram with two points up, often inscribed in a double circle, with the head of a goat inside the pentagram. This is referred to as the Sigil of Baphomet. They use it much the same way as the Pythagoreans, as Tartaros means "Hell" in Christian terminology (the word is used as such in the Bible, referring to the place where the fallen angels are fettered). The Pythagorean Greek letters are most often replaced by the Hebrew letters לויתן forming the name Leviathan. Less esoteric LaVeyan Satanists use it as a sign of rebellion or religious identification, the three downward points symbolising rejection of the holy Trinity.

I looked up pentacle, which gave more accurate results regarding magic, demons and the such. It can be associated with the Seal of Solomon. As Wikipedia says, "the Seal of Solomon was a magical signet ring said to have been possessed by King Solomon, which variously gave him the power to command demons (or jinni), or to speak with animals." More about the pentacle can be found here, since there seems to be more than one use for it.

Do you think this would matter in Samuel Colt's contruction of the frontiers and railroads in Wyoming? He certainly knew what he was doing, and since Dean suggested Colt was hiding something, would that make the guy evil? I mean, he had to know a lot about demons since he created the only gun to kill them (which kind of makes me wonder what demons are made of in the first place, besides vengeful spirits and in H.H. Holmes case, ectoplasm). And, the gun was the key to open the entrance to Hell, so would that be contradicting, or did he just depend on a good hunter to have his hands on the gun? I mean, he could have known Hell was there and to have the gun as the key would mean people would never know, thus Hell would never be open. So perhaps he was saving people? And for interest, here's something more about Samuel Colt here.

So let's back track to demons for a minute. We know the YED wanted his army together, which out consist of all the demons sent to Hell (thank goodness John escaped!). That we know of, there is the YED himself, but also BEDs and REDs. At least with BEDs, these can be the main soldiers that will be fighting against humans, yes? I mean, they can easily possess people and leave, just like that. With Meg and her brother, they were ordinary people, until they were possessed. The janitor dude was possessed by the YED, so are demons and their hosts actually connected? It's interesting how many demons stick to a certain host, maybe becuase the hosts aren't stong enough to find it off or whatever. Demons are like "things." We know that REDs also possess women since a kiss is made to seal deals. So, if demons need hosts, it's more like demons can win by simply possessing the human race, manipulating them enough to kill other hunters and their hosts before finding others. So it's like the "bad" human race against the good, except basically the demons are making humans fight against each other. Or I could be totally wrong and say that demons can just actually turn into their human self before they went to Hell. Either way, they were still people, and no I do not feel sorry for them. But it's a thought to consider, yes?

That kind of leads me to thinking how Sam would be able to manipulate a RED to get Dean out of trouble. John obviously gave his life and the Colt just to save Dean. And Dean, even though he should have been dead was able to save a guy's life from getting killed by the hellhounds. In his cicumstances though, he didn't die yet. He was slowly dying, but he wasn't dead like Sam was when he was revived. That was probably why the RED negotiated with him. But with Sam, a. part of his soul could be in Hell for all we know, b. the YED was asking Dean if he really knew this was 100% Sam he brought back, and c. he really could be evil, but he just doesn't know it. I don't think Sam would offer his soul to save his brother, since he already disapproved Dean for doing it for him, and I know Sam would do sacrifice as much as he can to save Dean. But if he hypothetically did, would a demon go for a "evil" soul?

Sam knows there is probably some evil within him, say if he used his powers more thoroughly, like Ava and Jake did. Did you see Jake's eyes though when they were at the cemetery? When he looks at Sam, Bobby, Ellen and Dean, there's a flash of either orange or yellow before he tells Ellen to put the gun to her head. That might mean that a. psychic kids have souls that are partly from Hell, b. the demon blood is taking effect, or c. something else could be "possessing" them. With the latter, I'm talking about how manipulatin from the YED has created this wrath from what happened to everyone's loved ones...this wrath to do something great, to do something big is taking over, which would make Jake, Ava and Sam kill people.

In instances, they say they have to partially because of the YED, but do they have a choice? Yes, they do, but with the circumstances, they would rather kill than have things get worse. Be a good soldier, it seems like that is the guideline that is key. Ava killed people by controlling demons to kill the other psychics, and Jake, obviously took the advantage to kill Sam and run. With Sam, he killed a hunter when he was possessed in BUaBS, but he also killed Jake even when he wasn't. He obviously want to stop Jake, but that means he's the "winner" of his generation so is there a good chance this wrath will "possess" Sam to kill more people? Demons, yes...but actual hunters? Another thing to find out in season three.

I'll wrap this up with the whole "Howdy" thing posted to [info]supernatural_tv here. Such a demon thing to do, and Sammy's saying it too. Tie that in with the eye flash of Jake, and what does this tell us about psychics. Certainly, they're picking up some really bad habits from the YED. But subtle things like that can suggest evil instincts! Yes? Mkay. I'm done thinking for the day.

Thoughts to any of this?!!

P.S. I hope season three explain how Mary knows the YED. That is still bothering me a lot.
